Editing Media Group (B)

Editing Media Group is the publisher of some authoritative technical magazines like StoreCheck and Elektro-Verkoop, which was published for the first time 40 years ago, but also of several informational editions like: a supermarket guide with all core data of every supermarket in Belgium, a retail guide as well as an out-of-home guide. The purpose of the database is to administer the advertising contacts with all related orders and invoices on one hand, and the numerous readers on the other hand.

The central menu from which most tables can be opened and lots of reports can be made.	Registration on the website for one of the many seminars are sent directly to the Filemaker database. A plug-in reads the incoming mail, analyses it and stores it into the database. The person in charge gets a list of all new participants.	All readers get enough characteristics to be able, in case of special issues, to address the right group. All data is kept up-to-date in a very conscientious way.

Fragicslov (SK)

Fragicslov s.r.o. is a Slovakian joint venture with one of the major Belgian furniture producers. It stands for one of our biggest projects till now. While the foundations of this database have been laid more than 10 years ago, it was totally rewritten to make the transition from Filemaker 6 to Filemaker 8. In 8 weeks 95% of the rewrite was done, transfer of the old data included! It made quite a difference: much faster and about 60% of the original size! Scripts are much easier now: one script can perform actions in multiple tables instead of creating a confused chain. Much less global fields by the use of variables. And intensive application of the mail and pdf capabilities. Filemaker 8 is a real jewel.

The central menu from which most tables can be opened and lots of reports can be made.	These planning charts are made with the standard Filemaker features, no plug-ins needed. It is based on a library of chart elements, a very fast solution with a minimum of layout objects.	All main windows have a cancel button. The script knows if it is the creation of a new record or the editing of an existing one. All fields in this window are global fields. Only after an OK, the record is created or changed. With this technique, a user can't lock a record and go out for lunch.

VIPMedia (NL)

Also a compleet re-write of an outdated Filemaker program. All magazines (>10, only the most important are visible in the main menu) were moved to one database but security is very strict: only the magazine managers are allowed to create and edit orders for their magazine. Order confirmations can be made in 4 languages and can be mailed as pdf to every corner of the earth.An export of customers and outgoing invoices to the accounting software (Exact) is added.

Johnson & Johnson - Janssen Pharmaceutica (B)

The nice thing about this project is that another software company first tried to develop this in Microsoft Access but with more than 20 simultaneous users it became totally unreliable. So their skepticism was understandable when we proposed to develop it in Filemaker. It turned into enthusiasm when everything worked flawlessly!

Symfonieorkest Van Vlaanderen (B)

The sale of tickets and subscriptions is based on a graphical display of the 5 auditoriums where the orchestra performs. The users can click on venue to get information or to use them for an order.
It's still in Filemaker 6 but the transition must be finished this summer. We're expecting a lot of it because in version 6 script parameters were still not existing, so we had to create a separate script for every seat! Will be continued....

Fred - Reclameregie van de Persgroep(B)

This database manages all advertisers with their contactpersons, advertising agencies, and brands. Selections can be made to send pdf mailings. Clients will receive their commercial offers as pdf directly from the database.
As in a giant wizard, users are guided through the different steps to execute a task.

The central menu to start all the tasks for all-day-use. The administrator can access the tables directly.	To avoid double entries, a list of possible doubles is shown when creating a new customer.	All commercial offers are composed in Filemaker and sent to the customer as a pdf-file.
